Opportunities for 2019 are presenting me with using new colors for my marbled silk scarves, redefining my participation at outdoor shows, as well as looking at my 30 year career of marbling.  January and February had me looking at my body of work from the early days to present.  It's been an interesting and enlightening journey and I'm excited to be telling the story through my marbled pieces of art as well as through words.  It will come together in July at the Garrett Museum of Art.

THE ART OF MARBLING- New work that  evolved in 2018 led me to deepen in the energy of creativity as healing, especially working with my patients in the speech clinic at the hospital. In April of 1994 I wrote a letter to the editor of Ink and Gall Newsletter sharing my perceptions of how the process of marbling helps people with pain management and healing body illness. During my 2018  hiatus from teaching and production work,  I had a chance to read and reflect on what I was experiencing in 1994. Those words feel even more important today as humanity relies more on more on opioids to help manage pain and the sacredness of communication is lost behind technology.
METALLICS -  Newest for 2017 and still popular in 2019, especially framed silk circles.
January and February are the months I schedule time in my studio to develop new marbled art ideas and techniques.  I chose to continue to deepen my working relationship with metallic fabric inks and paints. I had used metallics before and really like their effect, especially on black silk, but they remained challenging for me due to their inconsistent results and sensitivity to other marbling elements.
